MEAL PRICES

Student Meals: Why are prices so low? The school receives a reimbursement and a commodity food allocation from USDA for every student meal served. "Full-pay" student meals earn the school a small amount ($.23 for 2007-08) to help with some basic costs. The student price helps, but doesn't cover the cost of producing and serving the meal. A la carte sales help pay for those meals.

Clay County Schools' student meal prices for the 2007-2008 year:

"FULL-PAY" ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENT:  Breakfast ......  $.75         Lunch .... $1.50

"FULL-PAY" MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT: Breakfast...... $.85 Lunch.............$1.75

REDUCED-PRICE STUDENT:           Breakfast ...... $.30           Lunch .....  $.40

Adult Meals: No reimbursement and no commodity food allocation is provided for adult meals. USDA regulations require that all adults be charged the full amount necessary to cover the cost of producing and serving the meal. Clay County School adults may purchase items at a la carte prices.
