Clay Schools #1

Clay County Schools were ranked as the #1 "Parent-Friendly" school system in North Carolina in a recent report by the John Locke Foundation in Raleigh. They ranked all 115 school districts based on varying criteria.

The criteria used was based on 11 different measures in four main categories of Administration, Teachers, Safety and Performance. They included end-of-grade test scores, graduation rates, school crime statistics, teacher turnover, and results of a Teacher Working Conditions survey.

Clay County Schools graduating Class of 2009 had the third highest graduating rate in North Carolina. The Superintendent and Board Chairman attended a ceremony at the Department of Public Instruction in Raleigh, NC on October 12, 2009 to receive recognition for this accomplishment.
